Now I don't normally do shoots with men,  not sure why to be honest. Anyway it just made me realize that I should be shooting more photographs with men and women together or just men.  I font want to be  a sexist now do I. Anyway moving along, my good friend Sean gave me a call upon returning to Malaysia as he is now currently based in Sydney, Australia.  He needed my help to shoot some photos of him for his YouTube channel as well as his Facebook fan page. So in return of some photos he bough me many rounds of refreshing beverages.

Just recently I bought myself an early birthday present; the Kindle Paperwhite. As I had my friend from the United States purchase it for me. It only occured to me that the device I have is the one with advertisements.  Now at first I was not too concerned about the special promotion on the main menu, however what truly annoyed me was the screensaver which would feature ads every time the device was set on standby. Now I'm sure that I am not the only who is annoyed by this, as I have seen many people posting questions on forums asking how can they remove the ads from the kindle. Now most people would suggest having the Kindle Paperwhite hacked or to be in state of jailbreak, which frankly I do not wish to do as there is a risk of permanently causing your Kindle to stop functioning altogether.

Today I almost smashed by coffee mug against the computer screen upon reading a preposterous article about how the iPhone is a better choice for professional photography. It would perhaps been a little forgiving if the article I was reading was from an online blog in North Korea, however to add to insult the article was published through Wired magazine.

Somehow I managed to salvage these old photos from my dying hard disk. These photos were taken back in 2010 together with my friend Rusdi as we collaborated yet again on project we had discussed previously. What we wanted to do was simply photograph something dramatic at very unusual location, and the located chosen was a Chinese hawker center.

Broga Hill (Bukit Broga) is also known as "Bukit Lalang' due to the abundance of the species called 'lalang' grass which grows on the hill. Located in Semenyih, Broga Hill stands at 400 meters high and is located roughly about 40 minutes from Kuala Lumpur. Broga Hill can be reached a short distance after the University of Nottingham, where the entrance trail starts from an oil palm estate facing a rabbit park across the road. The entrance to the car park is marked on the map below.

I know that there are many Nikon fan boys out there just loving the sound of the burst modes their cameras make when you keep the shutter button down. The Nikon D4 has a burst rate of 10fps(frames per second) which is equal to a AK-47 assault rifle. In this video will see the comparison of the difference in burst modes for the Nikon D700, D3X, D300S, D7000, D800 and D4

Gunung Brinchang (Mount Brinchang) is located in the Cameron Highlands and it is classified as the highest mountain in peninsula Malaysia accessible by road and stands at 2,032 meters (6,667ft) above sea level. Gunung Brinchang is also the second highest mountain in Cameron Highlands. Taking the road up is no challenge so the obvious route to the top is to hike through the jungle which I would personally consider very different compared to other hikes I have been to.

I was actually not going to post these photos at first however decided otherwise. As I thought it would be interesting to show how much you can achieve by just using two speedlights in photography.  These photos were taken while on a assignment and the goal was to capture people and their pets together in a homey environment. For this particular shoot I decided to use a soft box as the key light and an umbrella as the  fill light.

As time lapse photography is becoming more popular among photographers, I though of sharing an excellent video by the famous photographer Vincent Laforet. In this video Laforet gives us the basics of what you need to know about time lapse photography and how to be successful at creating those breathtaking videos. One of the key aspects of the video is in regards to how Laforet calculates the number of photographs needed in order to create a smooth finish to the time lapse video.

Gunung Datuk (also known as Mount Rembau or Mount Datuk Rembau) located in Rembau, Negeri Sembilan. Standing at 886 meter above sea level it is by far not the highest mountain around but it does provide hiker with a good view.  The mountain was to become the setting for my first night hike. The original plan was to reach the starting point by 6am and then start hiking up the mountain at the break of dawn. However due to the fact non of the members in the group were able to sleep, we decided to make a move early in order to reach the peak before sunrise.

I have always been a fan of street photography. As most photographers I have been inspired like many others by the father of modern day photojournalism the great Henri  Cartier-Bresson. However  it had occurred to me that I had yet to really venture into this category of photography. Most people would think that it is the easiest means of photography, however I beg to differ. So I decided to wake up early on a Sunday morning which frankly is really rare unless I'm going for a  hiking trip. Also managed to persuade my good friend and photographer Rusdi to join me in my adventure to a small market located in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur.

I was going through my old hard drive and found these photos of my trip to Bangkok way back in 2009. Here are some of the photos from that trip which I managed to salvage, I decided to have them all in black&white which I believe give a different mood in comparison to the normal vivid color travel photos.
